There are so many styles going on in today’s tuner culture, from JDM inspired vehicles, to the Euro scene, to the latest drift frenzy going on. One style that is hardly seen is VIP. Benji Cosca executes a perfect example of this style with his 1998 Infiniti Q45.
Benji started modifying cars in 2001 when he built a Vortech supercharged Maxima. Then in 2003, he built an all out drift machine with his ’95 240 with a SR20 swap. He finally strayed away from going fast and sideways, and wanted something comfortable. He wanted to do something new, so in 2005 he began building a VIP car. Benji also wanted to be one of the first to do it in the east coast.
He already had a platform to build upon in mind, and bought the WALD Exchange EX Line body kit for the Q45 before even purchasing the vehicle. This kit gave him problems during the install because of fitment issues due to the JDM Y33 being slightly different from its USDM counterpart. After purchasing the Q45, he went ahead and gathered a few Nissan Cima parts such as the grill, headlights, emblems, and window visors.
The suspension consists of IMPUL lowering springs, which give this Q45 an aggressive stance and not sacrificing much of the ride comfort. The fenders were rolled to accommodate the WORK Euroline DH chrome wheels in 19×9 -12 in the front and 19×10 -29 in the rear wrapped in Falken FK452 225/35/19 and 235/35/19 tires. S13 pillow ball toe links were used to correct the toe for the -7.5 degrees of negative camber. The S14 upper camber arms were added in the rear to fit wheels with such aggressive offsets. With a set of Cusco upper camber plates, -3.5 degrees of negative camber was also added to the front for clearance.
The interior is accentuated with Junction Produce products with the white Fusa and silver Gitsuna that hangs on rearview mirror. The full leather steering wheel has been swapped to a leather/wood steering wheel from an Infiniti I30 limited edition model. Front passengers have access to DVD movies on the in-dash Pioneer AVH-5700DVD LCD screen with full TV tuner capabilities from the Pioneer GEX-P5700TV hide-away unit. While rear passengers are accommodated with Sony XVM-H65 headrest monitors. A set of Anceltion VIP Casual Curtains was implemented to put a final touch on the interior for added privacy.
Benji’s Q45 is fine example of a perfectly done VIP car. It’s very uncommon to see one here in the east coast and is sure to turn heads everywhere on the road. What makes this car even more amazing is that it is daily driven. Benji would like to thank his girlfriend Christina Panahon for playing a major role in helping with this build. His future plans are for wider wheels and possibly a new body kit utilizing full bumper replacements.
