With so many platforms available for the tuner scene, a lot of people go with the common platform that is available for us. Sherwin chose a different route by choosing a 1992 Lexus SC300 as his vehicle to build upon.Sherwin resides in Maryland and works in the security field. When he got of age he started modifying cars his first major modification was a 1997 240sx with a SR20 swap. After the scene got flooded from the drifting craze he went with something different with the Lexus.
Sherwin’s SC300 has been JDM inspired from the moment he purchased the car stock in March of 2004. He had the car fitted with the JDM 1JZGTE swap found in the Toyota Soarer. He drove the car from Maryland to Queens, New York to have the swap installed. The swap went in with no problem but the engine would not start. He ended up going back to Maryland without the car that weekend. After finding the cause was from a bad ECU two weeks later, the heart of this SC300 was set. He recently replaced the stock twin turbos with a single Turbo.
The SC300 has been fitted with an AutoCouture Front Bumper and Sides with an Evolution Rear lip to finish it off. With the new kit in place the car received D2 coilovers mated with a set of staggered Racing Hart Evolution J8 wheels in 19×9 and 19×10.5 in the rear wrapped in Dunlop rubber.
This SC300 has been given the proper attention and detail making it a great example of a JDM inspired car. Having the Lexus SC300 as a platform also adds icing on the cake seeing how it’s such an uncommon choice among the tuners.
Sherwin wants to thank especially the guys at VIP Garage for the single conversion and maintainance of the car, Ryan at Beacon Autobody for all the body work needs. Special thanks goes to Brian, Todd, Tony and Carlos and all the members of the North East Lexus Owners Club(NELOC) that helped with the swap in Queens. And last but not least all the members on Clublexus and SupraForums that helped to inspire the build.
